1.3 Million Pilgrims Expected in Talpa de Allende

The authorities of Jalisco announced that they estimate the arrival of around 1.3 million pilgrims to Talpa de Allende between March and April, with an increase in attendance during the Easter period. The mobilization is taking place in a security context with active cooperation at various points in the state. The flow of visitors is concentrated mainly on the Pilgrim's Route, where inter-institutional coordination is maintained to assist people in transit, as well as to prevent risks on roads and in high-concentration areas.

Attendance and Route Characteristics The route, with over 200 years of history, intensifies during March and Easter Week. The pilgrimage to the Virgin of Talpa is a centennial tradition in Jalisco, where millions of people travel the Pilgrim's Route, a journey of approximately 117 kilometers that begins in the municipality of Ameca, crosses the mountains of the Western Sierra Madre, and culminates in the Basilica of Talpa de Allende.

Security and Assistance Operation To guarantee security and reinforce prevention, it was announced that the State Civil Protection and Fire Department has mobilized a force of 494 operational elements this year, supported by 162 vehicles, from Municipal Civil Protection Units, municipal commissions, and medical services. The operation includes pre-hospital and hospital care, accident prevention, health promotion, vector control, and supervision of health risks, with medical attention modules distributed along the route to provide timely support.

Inter-institutional Coordination Coordination includes the participation of authorities from 36 municipalities, as well as health personnel from the health regions of Ciudad Guzmán, Puerto Vallarta, Autlán, and Ameca. The State Police and the State Highway Police also collaborate, among other corporations, with the objective of providing comprehensive care and maintaining safe conditions throughout the route.

Recommendations for the Population Given the high influx of people during the season, state authorities issue recommendations to prevent health risks during the journey. Among the main recommendations are to stay constantly hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, use appropriate clothing and footwear, as well as sun protection. In addition, people are urged not to self-medicate, keep minors and the elderly under supervision, and locate the medical attention modules distributed along the route.
